My first post!
Well, here is. My first post on a squeaky new website. Now what do I even say? A better title wouldn’t have hurt.
Okay, okay, okay. This technically isn’t the first time that I’ve done this, but that doesn’t mean I’m good at it… yet!
All this dabble in the online blogging started in 2016, when myself and Kristy decided to create a blog (everywhereplease.com) and see the world together. And guess what? We did it. We just read and tried and failed and read again until somehow, we ended up with a blog, that towards the end gained a lot of traction and had a heap of amazing and useful content.
Now, as you’re reading this, I’m trying to do it all again. Well not recreate it, just moving the goal posts a little. My aim is for this blog to be less about the travel and what we saw and how to see etc, but more about me, my photography and art and the adventures I have along the way.
So, more about Jarryd Bravo.
My creative career kicked off in 2015 when I landed a job as a graphic designer and photographer for the Mornington Peninsula Magazine. From here, my love for media and the print world really developed. Form there I worked for the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) where I learnt all the in-and-outs of television and news. The next big job I landed was with the Mornington Peninsula New Group. Back in print media again, working on beautiful publications and really expanding my editorial photography skills. All the while still taking on odd freelance jobs, as most creatives do.
It wasn’t until the decision to sell up everything and book a one-way-ticket to South America that life really started to get exciting. Look, this isn’t to say that life at home was boring; just when do you get the chance to pack up and, fly to another continent and live without a care in the world?
“When do you get the chance to fly to another continent and live without a care in the world?”
During my travels of 2017 through Latin America, the travel bug had fully taken me. There’s no escaping it now. Even though I had travelled my fair share before the big trip to South America, nothing was like this one. And to be honest, I don’t think anything ever will be.
Along with the travel bug, I learned something else about myself in 2017. My passion for hiking and landscape photography went through the roof. To give you some perspective, my first overseas trip after South America was to solo hike and photograph New Zealand’s South Island. And what another incredible journy that was. (You can view my NZ lookbook here.)
So this brings us to now. Blindly building myself another website and blog and going from there. My aim is to give you insight to my adventures and photography and share my victory’s, as well as struggles and some of the moments that I will look back on in years to come knowing I tried to get the most out of life.
